Sparta — The second annual Sussex County Money $mart Week Piggy Bank Pageant will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, at the Sussex Tech School lobby, 105 North Church Road (Route 94), Sparta.
All area children in grades pre-K through 8 are encouraged to participate. Judging will take place while contest entrants and their parents participate in a series of financial education activities from 1 to 2:30 p.m., followed by a parade of contestants and the awarding of prizes.
Contest entrants are encouraged to go ‘hog wild' and create a piggy bank from materials such as milk cartons, soda bottles or cardboard. Entrants can also dress-up and decorate an existing piggy bank with markers, crayons, picture cutouts or fabric.
All piggy banks must be able to hold coins and may be no larger than 18 inches x 18 inches x 18 inches. They must also be created or decorated by the contest entrant, with very little or no adult help.

Completed Piggy Bank Pageant registration forms must be received by 4 p.m. on Friday, April 20, by Christine Florio. They should be e-mailed to cflorio@sussex.nj.us , faxed to 973-948-6664 or mailed to 135 Morris Turnpike, Newton, N.J. 07860.
The day of the pageant, piggy bank entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges and the decision of the judges is final. A total of nine prizes will be awarded: first, second and third place in each of the three grade categories.
