The Rosendale Memorial Committee is seeking pictures of area veterans from any time period, past or present, for this year's Memorial Day video presentation.

Bethel Reformed Church's Senior High Youth Group is hosting Couch Wars! with check in no later than 1 p.m., and activities from 1:30 to about 6 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at the church, 305 W. Main St., Brandon.
Couch Wars!" will include games with couches such as The Amazing Couch Race, Sofa Sleeper Rafting, Ninja Warrior Couch Course, Catch the Couch Potato, and Recliner Races. The event is open to all area high school students. The cost per person is $3 for food; and if contestants choose to purchase a commemorative Couch Wars! T-shirt, the total cost is $10 per person.
Teams of four to eight students are asked to bring their own couch to the event and will compete for prizes for the youth group of their choice. The grand prize is a new sofa from Ver Hage Furniture of Waupun. Other prizes include a gently-used sofa from Bargains Galore of Waupun, a Pizza Party Pack donated by the Pizza Ranch of Waupun, a bag of chips a week for a year, and a case of soda a month for a year. The registration deadline is Saturday, April 22; and teams may register online at www.bethelbrandon.org .
Speaker Scott Spencer from Life Promotions will also be there to challenge students to "get off the couch" and experience a new life. Pizza, soda and potato chips will be served, and prizes will be awarded following his message.
The theme is "Open for History" and will focus on Brandon history and the library as a state and national landmark, which it will be named later this year.
At 6 p.m., historic consultant Carol Lohry Cartwright will give a presentation on the Brandon Public Library history. A historic preservation consultant since 1985 with a master's degree in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she was hired by the library to prepare and research the National Register of Historic Places application that will be submitted to the State Historical Society this month.
Barb Bellmer's Grade 7 art class students' renderings, crosshatching and reduction prints of historic Brandon buildings will be displayed today through Tuesday, May 1.
Anyone wishing to add a sale to the map should pick up a sale registration form at the Brandon Ultimart, 102 S. Woodward St., or contact Jerry Jahns, 346-2730.
Maps will be available at Brandon Meats & Sausage, 117 S. Commercial St.; Brandon Ultimart; and Village Garden Family Restaurant, 142 E. Main St.
