Author and professor Dr. Annie Smith will present "Bearing Up With Cancer, Part II," at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Radisson Hotel, 125 Denison Parkway East in Corning.
"Bearing Up With Cancer" details Smith's long and ongoing battles with breast and ovarian cancers, with the help of the engaging persona of her signature "Bear." This illustrated figure, that has been a part of Smith's life longer than her cancer, allows Smith and those who see her work to view cancer from a new and different perspective.
Smith returns to the area, and hospital, that played an important role in her formative years. She is the daughter of Dr. Earl D. Smith, radiologist and founder of the School of Radiologic Technology, and a key figure in the development of the radiology department at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. Her mother earned her nursing degree at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, where her parents met.

Individuals and teams are welcome. There is a minimum requirement of $25 for each person to raise or donate. All funds raised will stay in the Southern Tier.
Arnot Health will host a seminar on vascular disease on April 26 as part of the Arnot Health Heart and Vascular Institute's Dare to C.A.R.E. program.
During the seminar, attendees can sign up for their free screenings, which consist of a noninvasive ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries, abdominal aorta and an examination of leg circulation.

The Blood Department can set up blood appointments for blood donors every 56 days (112 days if double red) throughout the year for the Chapter House blood drives and American Legion Post 442 blood drives only.
This enables the donors to receive the appointment time they prefer and disposes of the recruitment telephone call they regularly receive. They will receive one reminder call the day before their appointment.
