Raffi Cavoukian, whom we know as "Raffi," is famous for his songs "Baby Beluga" and "Bananaphone." However, he will not be singing children's songs on May 10, when he will speak at the Corning Museum of Glass. Instead, he will deliver a keynote presentation that focuses on "child honoring."

Raffi's speech is part of Family Service Society, Inc.'s workshop titled "Restoring Hope, Light and Dignity in the Lives of Abused and Traumatized Children." Other presenters include Dr. David Crenshaw, the President of the New York State Association of Play Therapy, and Ruth Goodwin, ACSW, a well-known local voice in the field of family preservation and child abuse prevention.

The American Cancer Society and The Wellness Council of the Southern Tier will offer "Coping With Cancer," a series of free educational presentations at the Centenary United Methodist Church, 3 W. Washington St. in Bath.

Registered participants can participate in the following: manicures, massages, makeovers, blood pressure screenings, blood sugar screenings, colorectal cancer screenings, bone density screenings, Reiki treatments, reflexology and paraffin dips. Arnot Health will host a seminar on vascular disease on Thursday as part of the Arnot Health Heart and Vascular Institute's Dare to C.A.R.E. program.

During the seminar, attendees can sign up for their free screenings, which consist of a noninvasive ultrasound examination of the carotid arteries, abdominal aorta and an examination of leg circulation.
