Well, folks. I did it. I made it through my senior year of college. One more week of finals left ... All You Cannot Live Withou

Almost because I'm coming back to school for a fifth year. Actually, I won't even be leaving school since I'll be staying here to work and hate my life even more. But, I'll get to drink, and who doesn't love that?!

Kind of a slow week in the world of rock and metal. It's that lull feeling you get between Easter and Memorial Day. Not too much going on, unless you're in school. Bands finishing their recordings and preparing for a summer tour. Ah…bliss.

The record is a rock record, very kind of epic sounding with a lot of different instruments, a lot of different layers and definitely interesting…I don't know how to talk about my own music really well, I kind of just like having other people draw conclusions. But it's been exciting working on it. I've had the same energy as the first System record.

's sophomore album is being produced by Michael "Elvis" Baskette (Chevelle, Three Days Grace). The band is currently in Virginia Beach wrapping up the recording process with a fall release expected.

I wanted to get back to our roots and make a rock record again. I feel like our (self-titled) last recorded, leading off with "You and Me", the ballad, it kinda softened us up a little. I think people forgot that we started off as an alternative band, then we kinda got immersed in that Adult Top 40 and Top 40 world. This time it was really refreshing just to plug our guitars back in and crank it up and play some uptemo rock music.

The new album draws from the strengths of our last two records, Courting Tragedy and Disaster and Hail Horror, but this is an entirely new chapter for HIMSA and our fans. Sammi Curr (guitars) wrote a lot of the music for Courting, and Kirby Johnson (guitars) wrote most of the tracks on Hail Horror (when Sammi wasn't in the band), so the two of them have joined forces to craft a whole new level of rage. We're looking at about 10 or 11 songs right now, and are extremely proud of them. We are stoked to be collaborating with the aural assault team of Steve Carter, Devin Townsend and Tue Madsen. These are guys we trust and respect. We worked with Steve on Courting. We did Hail Horror with Tue. Devin is the new factor in all of this. He's doing the vocal tracking, and we're looking forward to his searing, manic, vocal skills giving new dimension to Pettibone's throaty mayhem. This album will be an evolution of everything people have grown to expect and respect from our enduring and grumpy metal band, with a few new twists. We're older, but we're wiser and faster than ever. We can't wait to see our fans around the globe this fall. Till then, stay true and keep the horns raised high.

have posted an extensive update on their touring and release plans, including word of a possible DVD release of their performance at "All Tomorrows Parties" awhile back, during which they played their "Oceanic" album in its entirety. You can read that update here .

Unless you're a sorority girl, you're probably not accustomed to dudes telling you that something called "the big dirty" is about to invade your personal space. Well we here at Every Time I Die are doing just that, so open your holes wide. Your EAR holes. This August, Ferret Music will release what can only be described as "Every Time I Die's newest album" known as "The Big Dirty". Chock-a-block with riffs that only 4 months of a Buffalo, New York winter could spawn, this new record will undoubtedly satisfy those that have followed the band since their first full length release "Last Night In Town" all the way through "Gutter Phenomenon". And if you were one of the 38 confused men who strayed somewhere along that interim, we welcome you back with open arms. You want ironically distasteful rock and roll pretenses? You got em. You want riffs so filthy they should have a moustache and wear elastic work out pants when they go out to eat at the Olive Garden? Right here, boys. You want mosh parts so brutal it could star opposite Charles Bronson in ANY of the Death Wish movies? Come get some. Produced by Steve Evetts, The Big Dirty is the CD you would compile if asked to make a mix of the BEST Every Time I Die songs you haven't heard yet. Ten plus tracks that tore from our filthy hands like the creature that jumped out of that dudes stomach in Alien. If this ain't your favorite heavy release of the year, I'll eat my damn hat. Look for us on Sounds Of The Underground this summer with Chimaira and GWAR. And if you're in Australia, firstly "G'day Mate!" and secondly get your ass ready for us and Norma Jean in early June. Who's buyin?

I've been (in Los Angeles) for five days, sat through three rehearsals and one demo recording session, listened to several other demos, and I can happily report that the new stuff is kicking my ass right out of my pants. Remember that these songs are still only in the early stages of being written too. Just in the time I've been here, the guys have taken a riff and worked on it and expanded it and added layers to it, and now it's practically a full-fledged song.

As a result of his other commitments, have parted ways with drummer Will Hunt, who was temporarily brought onboard to fill-in for Nick Oshiro. I started asking myself all these questions that I would ask a band I was producing, like, 'What have I done in music already?' 'What do I want to say?' and 'How do I want this record to be perceived?' " he recently told MTV News. "I had all these questions and I started answering them by writing songs. I wanted to write about something that had significance, I wanted to make an album that was important and I wanted to make something that was 100 percent original. So I thought, 'Well, what is original?' and I realized that the only thing that can be 100 percent original is if I write completely about myself, and all the things that are going on in my head and in my life. This record is really important to me, and I want everything that I put into it to come across to everybody who hears it.

Of course, some have already balked at "March Of The Dogs," a song that features an intro in which Whibley declares, "Ladies and gentlemen of the underclass, the president of the United States of America is dead," and then goes on to talk about the president's head being blown off in the third verse. The band received some varied response to those lyrics via comments posted on its MySpace page, but Whibley says the harsh line is just a metaphor.

"That line is a metaphor for how Bush is so ineffectual and incompetent as a president," Whibley told MTV, in reference to the opening line. "It's the worst way I could think of to describe how bad he is as a leader."
