The Family Fun Night Haunted Fall Fest and Book Fair is this Thursday from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. at BCE. Join us for a fantastic event with entertainment for children of all ages. Try to recognize your favorite teachers in the haunted house, visit the Book Fair in the media center, or just entertain yourself with dancing, games and food.

FAW "kicked off" our Walk-a-Thon fund raiser on Monday, October 10, 2005. The Walk-a- Thon is a PTA sponsored project for our Physical Education Department. Students are asked to get sponsors to pledge a certain amount of money for each lap around our track. Each lap is carefully logged and recorded for each student. At the conclusion of their walk the accumulated laps are forwarded to the sponsors with a total amount due.

The Academic Games Team showed considerable growth in their last competition. On Tuesday, October 11, 2005 it will conclude the Equations Team's effort for this year. The Kitchen Witch) arrives to our Extended Day Program to greet her excited students! This unique program focuses on health, hygiene, nutrition, sanitation and arithmetic, and the end products are tasty food items (last week ziti with sauce!) The Hobe Sound Library is also offering an exciting on site reading program to our Kindergarteners and First Graders each month. They engage our students in a story circle, followed by a discussion. in fourth grade class discovered an error in her chapter book entitled "Million Dollar Kick." She wrote a letter to its publisher, Hyperion Publishing, indicating what the mistake was; the sentence started out "Once I year, I" instead of reading "Once a year, I." Bettina received an individualized letter from Hyperion acknowledging the error and thanking her for catching it. Hyperion also sent Bettina "Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg," for her to keep, along with a different book for the classroom library. , and fourth grade classes all enjoyed their fourth grade incentive on Wednesday. The teachers are proud of their students who earned extra indoor or outdoor recess with the other responsible, respectful fourth classmates. Kindergarten students have been studying the FOSS Kit Module "Animals 2 by 2," 1st grade "Liquids," and 2nd grade "Air and Weather." Pinewood is excited about starting its first band program for fourth and fifth grade students. The meeting, held two weeks ago, was well attended. This week marks the last week of first quarter. The students have been great with completing the big projects, studying for tests, and participating in class. Next Monday during Chapel, a special presentation of Samaritan's Purse will be shown in preparation for Operation Christmas Child. All BCA students will be participating in this special outreach project, extending our love for children around the world. Each homeroom will be gathering toys, candy, and goodies to fill wrapped shoeboxes for these children. Families are encouraged to put together shoe boxes as a family project in addition to what BCA will be doing. Completed boxes are due by Friday, Nov. 11.

Our teachers and staff gained new insight into a variety of topics discussed at last week's Teacher's Convention in Orlando. We all enjoyed the time of learning and fellowship. The Book-It program sponsored by Pizza Hut presented a challenge to teachers. For every extra minute spent reading to the children, in addition to the normal curriculum, during a specified week in September, Pizza Hut would donate a book to the children affected by Hurricane Katrina. Thanks to the participation of some of our teachers, 400 books will be sent to these children on behalf of Morningside Academy. We began hearing screenings this week with Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grades. On October 18 and 19, we will conduct our vision screenings thanks to a parent volunteer from The Stuart Eye Institute. These will be done for 1st, 3rd and 5th grade students.
Our Spiritual Emphasis Chapels will be Oct. 18th, 19th and 20th. Kindergarten through 2nd grades will meet at 1:00 p.m. and 3rd through 5th grades will meet at 1:50 p.m. Coach and Ronny will be ministering to us these three days.

Grade 9 volleyball team are 5-0 undefeated, grade 7 and 8 volleyball A team are 7-0 undefeated, grade 7 and 8 grade Volleyball B team have a respectable 3-4 record, JV volleyball teams have been split into grade 5 and 6 teams and overall are 3-6, grade 7 and 8 soccer team have 3 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties in league play, JV soccer team is 5-1. The football program, though still in pursuit of its first win, has learned much about the game, its traditions and pride in your school. The swim team, golf team and cross country team are also all busy learning fundamentals of their particular sports and the power of team spirit. In total there are 153 students involved in sports this season!
A reunion for all those who traveled to Spain this summer took place on campus on Wednesday. Current students and alumni gathered with chaperones andto share stories, memories and pictures of this unique school sponsored trip. All agreed that one of the best memories was visiting our "now" sister school outside of Madrid. Long lasting relationships were formed and an exchange program was initiated during this visit. Everyone's greatest memory though was unanimously our serendipitous run-in with Ben Stiller and Chris Rock at the Palacio Royal!

Jian Zi (made of feathers and a coin), a traditional Chinese sport, is now a part of the curriculum for the 8th and 9th graders taking Chinese and Asian Studies. , the Chinese teacher, hand made one for each of his students. It used to be Lin's favorite game in his childhood 40 years ago in China and now it is capturing the imagination of his students. It's Coming! The First Annual Treasure Coast Christian Academy Golf & Walk Classic. The event will be held on October 27th. The intent of this fundraiser is to impact lives. It is our goal and prayer that the continued and ongoing ministries of TCCA will be greatly impacted by the success of this event. We have received donations from all over the country. fourth grade class has just finished their unit on Native Americans. They had many interesting reports and housing models of the different tribes. They also took a trip to the library to learn about all it has to offer. Fourth graders love to read books!
fifth grade class is working on research papers on the ocean, and the animals that live in the ocean. They are planning a field trip right now, and they should know more details next week.
ninth grade class went to the Oxbo-Eco Center last Friday, so they could do experiments with water and finish their study of Ecology. They also went on a nature hike. This week they will be testing out of Unit 2, so they can forge ahead to New Horizons.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Youth Rummage sale and made it such a success. We appreciate everyone's hard work. We enjoyed our two days break and look forward to proceeding with this second quarter and doing our best to honor God as we do our work for Him.
In first grade class they have just finished creating a "desert diary". We learned about many desert plants and animals and researched desert scientific vocabulary words including evaporation and absorption. Experiments performed outside of our classroom enhanced our studies. We also spent some time learning map skills by looking at world maps to locate desert sites.
Third grade is beginning cursive writing. It's not as easy as it looks but they will master this skill with practice, practice, practice. Next week they will perform their vocabulary skits for the fourth grade class.
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! The fourth grade learned about newspapers this week. The students became reporters, editors, artists and proof readers as they wrote articles for a class newspaper. They also learned how to write concise and interesting classified ads. Even book reports were written to look like front page news. On Thursday, the class enjoyed a field trip to the Lyric Theatre for the presentation of five short musical plays. We got soaked by "Florida Sunshine", but we had a wonderful time.
The password in our fifth grade class is "division". The students have worked very hard and are understanding "division" in their math unit. In reading they have started a wonderful book called "Hatchet". In Social Studies the students have begun learning the States and capitals. If the State or capitol is west of the Mississippi they know them all, but east of the Mississippi is a different story. In their morning devotions the students have discussed why it is important to listen to parents and God's word. They have learned that we all should give thanks for everything we have in life. We thank the Lord for every student in our class. They are a blessing.
Middle school math is in the midst of a geometry unit. The students are learning about circles, polygons, different kinds of angles and triangles, symmetries and congruencies. They will have a chapter test the week of October 17 21.
Sixth grade science has finished learning about the sky and earth, light and vision, and sound and hearing. They are currently learning about our physical world. There will be a chapter 4 test the week of October 17 21.
artistic geography students created a symbolic map in a shape representing something of importance in Europe. Students added physical features, compass rose, scale and legend. Our next area of focus is modern European history.
science classes are looking forward to a number of weekend enrichment field trips, called Science Safaris, this year. Parents should look for paperwork to be sent home this week for an upcoming optional trip to the Kennedy Space Center during which students will have lunch with an astronaut.
6th graders are learning about some of the world cultures through learning centers. Centers include playing a Mexican game, La Loteria; learning words in another language; making a Japanese doll, calculating money exchanges and reading folktales. Students have completed the Project Northland program, which is an anti-drug and alcohol course.

Informational meetings for current eighth graders possibly interested in pursuing the International Baccalaureate program have been set. The IB Coordinator and selected students will Indiantown Middle on Oct. 2. At these in-school meetings, students will be apprised of the mission of IB, the requirements for entrance and the academic expectations. An evening informational meeting for parents is scheduled for November 8 at 7 p.m. in the South Fork Auditorium. Parents interested in the program should attend this meeting. Applications for prospective students will be available at this meeting. All applications are due to the IB office no later than Jan. 15, 2006. Parents and students should note that the recruitment and application deadline has been moved forward. Applications will not be accepted after Jan. 15, 2006. This time line better meets the requirements for pre-registration of incoming freshmen. Students who want to keep this program as an option must meet this deadline.
